Heat butter in a 6 quart pot over medium-high heat.

Add onion and saute until tender (about 4 minutes).

Bring mixture just to a boil then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer 15 minutes.

Drain and rinse beans in a fine mesh strainer.

Add Neufchatel cheese, corn, and whole beans (from step 5) and stir well.
